The seventh instalment of the mainline franchise, introducing a turn based RPG combat system replacing the more action-based 'brawler' type from previous entries. Initially released on the PlayStation 4 in Japan on January 16, 2020, it received a English dub and worldwide release on November 10, 2020, including being released on Xbox One, Windows and the Xbox Series X/S (functionally being a launch title for the latter). A further release on the PlayStation 5 followed on March 2, 2021.
The game introduces a new protagonist, Ichiban Kasuga, a former Yakuza betrayed by his former boss, and left for dead in the fictional district of Isezaki Ijincho, in Yokohama.
