Kamurocho is a fictional red-light district of Tokyo, based on the real life district of Kabukicho, in Shinjuku. It is notorious for having appeared in almost every single mainline Yakuza game so far, and is the sole explorable district in Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza 4. It also appears in modern spin off titles such as Kurohyou & Judgment, as well as their respective sequels.
Despite being the usual primary setting for the Yakuza series, Kamurocho consistently has differences between each & every game.
Mainline Games
While some locations are constants, such as Serena, Yoshida Batting Center & Karaoke-kan, there are still notable differences between each Kamurocho:

Yakuza 3
- Serena is officially reopened after the events of the previous two games, and is renamed New Serena. A new bar mama, whose name is forever a mystery, takes over.
Yakuza 4

- A good portion of Kamurocho is inaccessible; in particular, the entire Champion District, and areas north of Shichifuku Street and east of the Hotel District. This is due to time constraints with rebuilding the district for the then-new Dragon Engine.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon
- Y:LAD has two variations of Kamurocho; one based in December 2000, before Ichiban is falsely incarcerated, and one based in 2019, which reuses huge portions of Judgment's own Kamurocho map.
- Areas such as Bar Tender, Yagami Detective Agency, and Genda Law Firm are present & visible in 2019 Kamurocho, but Ichiban nor his party can access them, with areas that have no windows (such as Bar Tender) having their interiors dummied out almost entirely.
- The promotional crossover with the discount store Don Quijote allegedly ended during this period, and as such, is now a police station in 2019.
