The fourth iteration in Sony's PlayStation line, the PlayStation 4 was released November 15, 2013 in North America, with releases staggered across PAL regions and Japan. The console was released in PAL territories November 29 and in Japan, on February 22, 2014. It is currently the second-best-selling home game console of all time, only outmatched by its earlier sibling, the PlayStation 2.
Its internal codename was 'Orbis'.
